I thought it might make an interesting early blog post to just explain a little about where the Paramedd-Jr project came from and where we hope to be heading. About eight months ago I first pitched the idea to the five others involved. There were a couple of raised eyebrows but definitely an air of enthusiasm as well. I wanted to build a site, specifically for paramedic-type content, which was open and free for all to access. Inspired by similar projects across other professions the Paramedd-Jr concept was created in a garden centre cafe just off the A38!
So the goal is to fill this site with videos, blogs, case reviews and anything else we can think of. We would like to make content that cannot be found elsewhere but will provide a digital reference point when learning/revising.
One important distinction to make is with the video content, this takes two formats.
Skill – These are formal style videos which have been ‘scripted’
Scenario – These videos demonstrate an individual’s approach to any given situation. Each ‘paramedic’ will only be given information similar to that passed through the mobile data terminal on an ambulance
A key concept involved is feedback. We would love to hear your views on content both for the site development and more importantly for our individual professional development. We have got some exciting ideas on the cards for the next few months and if you have any requests for content please let us know. We will try and get as much content up as we can balanced with studying/placements.
Finally a little thank you! We are very lucky to be supported by a great team of staff at the university we all study in, without whom this project would be non-existent.
Sneak Preview of content soon to appear!
